Any easier way to control the height of the module 2 Years, 3 Months ago
Hi there,
Having trouble getting three modules to end up with the same vertical height, as shown in the screenshot.

I am trying to use the "height of module" setting in the "other parameters" area. But it seems to control the height of the main text, rather than the height of the module as a whole.

So whatever the setting, pixels or percentages, I can't get them to be all the same height in Firefox and Internet Explorer.

Any ideas? Here's hoping?

IEplorer 8

Firefox 3.5

Yes, the 'Height of module' is actually height of main text; the label has been corrected now and next release will reflect it.

The total module height will be the total of Heading height and Main Text height. For having same height of side by side modules and also for cross browser compatibility (please note that mentioned below is only a trick for same display in different browsers; different display is the limitation of the browsers and not of the module), follow as below.

Add Heading height (if there is some heading text) AND Main Text height in pixels (eg 50px for Heading and 200px for Main Text) for ALL the side by side modules. You're probably trying to adjust the height of one module so that it matches the default height of the other module. Instead, force the height for both or all the side by side modules, so that the height is equal to the tallest module. Let me know if the result is not what you want; if one of the modules is very tall, there is also an option to have a scroll bar.

Okay tried that. I set the header text height to the same value across three modules, and did the same for the main text. In Firefox it was still uneven. So I added some extra pixels to the module that was short and made them even.

Then viewed the result in Opera and they were uneven, and then in Internet Explorer8, where it was uneven too!

I think there needs to be some new overall way to control the absolute height of the module across the main browsers, otherwise it seems very hard to get a set of modules to be the same height.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. Will add a module height option, test it in different combinations of module, heading and text height, and will keep whatever works across browsers.

Hello. Could you share what is the script / text that you are adding in side by side modules ? I tested with custom text and html by forcing same Main Text height, and it looked fine in all three browsers.

If it is something which you cannot share publicly you may use the contact form on the site. Or atleast mention if it is a widget or something, so that I can try that.
