PrettyModule error when legacy plugin is published 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hi,

thanks for the new release 2.0

just a problem when my legacy plugin is "on" (I need it for DocMan component)

e.g error message on each instance of prettymodule:

Warning: mysql_query() [function.mysql-query]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) in /www/leparc/modules/mod_prettymodules15/mod_prettymodules15.php on line 86

any idea?

regards

This error is usually related to MySQL not running or MySQL configuration. Let me know
Do you get this error with Pretty Modules Disabled ?

Are you running on a web host and not from a local machine ?

If answer to above two is Yes
Do you get this error message inside the module or outside ?

If you select 'Include Article ?' as No do you still get this error ?

no, only when prettymodule AND legacy plugin are enabled

web host

Do you get this error message inside the module or outside ?

outside, on the top of each prettymodule's instance, only subsisting the image background inside prettymodule

If you select 'Include Article ?' as No do you still get this error ?

exact, if I don't select an article tyhere is no error...

Will require some time in figuring this out. One last question - Are you on windows ? I tested with three different environments with legacy on - but all linux.

I meant your server, is it windows or linux/unix ?

Anyway, here's my take on this error - I'm unable to replicate your error in any of the environments which I have, so the point is, even if I fix it by experimentation, I won't come to know.

Temporary solution - I understand you get this error only when you choose to display articles (with inherant ability) AND when the legacy plugin is enabled. Since you cannot disable legacy mode as it might be required for other extensions, you can make the Joomla core (there are some other modules also which give more control over display) Latest or Popular news module to load inside Pretty Modules. This way, you won't be able to style both the title and the text individually, but you'll atleast be able to style the overall module appearance. If you face any problem in loading other module inside Pretty Modules, please start another thread as it will be unrelated to this thread.

Permanent Solution - Permanent solution would be to convert this 1.5 native module into a 1.0 native module. I'll be working on it, but please cooperate and understand that it will not be an immediate release.
